Χριστὸς ἀνέστη! Christ is risen! The greatest day of the Church’s year begins with the Easter Vigil at 6 am. The rich symbolism of this act of worship includes the lighting of the new fire and blessing of the Easter Candle, the singing of the Easter Proclamation, the Exultet; prophetic readings from Scripture and the renewal of baptismal promises, followed by the first Eucharist of Easter. The Eucharist is again celebrated at 8 am (Book of Common Prayer, with hymns) and 10am (Choral Eucharist).
